KMTelecom has a strong tradition of supporting community needs throughout our service areas. We participate and have assisted with a multitude of community projects including festivals, educational programs, youth scholarships, youth sports activities and non-profit organizations. We invest more than $50,000 each year to support our communities.
We welcome Donation Requests. To qualify for a donation, the request must support a program in one of KMTelecom’s service areas and must be a non-political and non-religious organization. 1901 – Company founded and incorporated by Herman M. Tollefson. Service began with the telephone switchboard located to the rear of what is now the Kasson Dollar and Video Store.
1909 – Mantorville Telephone Exchange purchased and company named Kasson & Mantorville Telephone Company
1913-1917 – Kasson & Mantorville exchanges rebuilt with aerial cable.
1927 – Total telephone lines served had grown to 731.
1954 – Exchanges converted to Stromberg-Carlson XY boards.
1961 – Purchased Rock Dell Telephone Company.
1976 – Kasson & Mantorville Exchanges plowed underground.
1986 – Alcatel Digital Switch Installed.
1994 – Joined with NRTC to offer sale and support of DBS (DirecTV Satellite System)
1995 – Lucent 5E Digital Switch Installed.
1996 – Began offering Dial Up Internet
2001 – Changed Name to KMTelecom
2002 – Expanded Triple Play Service to Dodge Center
2005 – Wildblue Internet added to our service offerings
2007 – KMTV Digital Television Service launched.
2008 – Began 5 year project to bring Fiber to the Home (FTTH) to our Kasson & Mantorville Subscribers.
2014 – Internet Speeds of up to 1 Gig being offered in our Kasson and Mantorville exchanges.
2016 – Managed Wi-Fi service was introduced to internet customers.
2017 – Fiber construction in rural Mantorville was completed, bringing internet speeds up to 1 Gig and TV service to this area.
2018 – Fiber construction in rural Kasson was completed, high speed internet up to 1 Gig and TV service are available in this area.
2019 – Fiber construction in new residential neighborhood in NW Dodge Center to bring high speed internet up to 1 Gig, TV and telephone service.
2020 – Fiber construction was completed in rural area north of Rock Dell to bring internet speeds up to 1 Gig, TV and telephone service.
